Riding The Globe On A Vintage Norton

More than a quarter-century before Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman set off on their quest to take the Long Way Round and three years prior to the release of Ted Simon's quintessential motorcycle travel memoir, Jupiter's Travels , John Fitzwater, a then 20-year-old New Zealander, purchased a disassembled 1974 Norton Commando 850 in Perth, Australia, and brought it home to Auckland. He planned on rebuilding it, adding a few upgrades, and taking it on a journey around the world.
