Gold king of the road

Feel like a king in a gold carriage, wind rustling the hair, the compliant ride on long springs and soft leather, and a view over a polished timber dash to a long bonnet. In 1948, this car – the then-new Triumph 2000 Roadster – was one of the kings of the roads that pushed its vertical chrome grille down English lanes and became a symbol not only for the resurgence of the British car industry but also for wealth.
